Implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium in the form of a tooth root and placed in the jawbone with a small operation. Titanium is a tissue-friendly material. By creating a special bond with the bone, it clings to the place where it is placed cellularly. When an adhesion is completed (2 - 6 months), the prosthesis preparation process, which we call superstructure, is started. Today, implants are arguably the best alternative to natural teeth.
CAN IMPLANT BE APPLIED TO THE PATIENT?
In the area where the implant will be placed, the jawbone should have the height and width to accept the implant. The quality of the existing bone is one of the factors affecting the success of the implant. Bone development should be completed in young people. There is no upper age limit for adults. Implants can be applied to anyone with a good general health. Hygiene is also important in implant applications. Therefore, the attention of the person to whom the implant will be applied plays a big role in the success of the implant. Total prostheses are no longer the only chance of toothless mouths. Implants placed in the jawbone and prostheses prepared with support from them now give patients the feeling of chewing with their own teeth and are therefore frequently preferred.
WHAT IS THE SUCCESS RATE IN IMPLANT TREATMENT?
In scientific studies, it has been shown that implant success varies between 90 and 100%. But of course, it is not possible to give a 100% guarantee as with any medical procedure.
Success of implant treatment;
Taking care of oral health and cleaning before and after implant
- The amount of alcohol and cigarettes used in the recovery period
- Good general health (uncontrolled diabetes negatively affects recovery)
- Placement of implants in a sterile environment
- The indication depends directly on the correct setting by the physician
